Studies in Attachment

This series explores grafting as a metaphor for the adoptee experience. Branches expand and connect, referencing both family trees and ancestral roots. Their forms are also reflected within the human body — from lungs to the nervous system and bloodstream. The joining of natural and human-made materials invites reflection upon nature versus nurture, biomimicry, and relational attachment to others, and the natural world. Where do we end and others begin, and how can we embrace interdependence while maintaining our own identities?
